Lo Gyalpo Jigme Cultural Conservation (LGJF) is a non-government organization that has been working in the upper Mustang since 2003. Lo Gyalpo Jigme Foundation is committed to the preservation and promotion of the tradition, medieval architecture, and heritage of the Loba people, ethnically Tibetan, and inhabitants of Upper Mustang, Nepal by supporting education, healthcare, infrastructure, and restoration of art and heritage. Currently, the foundation supports 14-day care centers, seven health centers, Tsarang Monastic School, Tsarang Nunnery School, Thupchen wall painting project, solar street light construction project, education and hostel for Loba children in Jomsom, and local language program in four community schools. Upper Mustang is one of the highly threatened regions in Nepal in terms of environmental and landscape change. One of the main reasons is climate change and the most common signs are erratic weather patterns, drying out water sources, less productivity in pastures, and increased incidences of floods and landslides. Given the critical climate problem and LGJF's long-term work at upper Mustang, we have plans to help build self-reliant and climate-resilient communities to mitigate and combat disasters induced by climate change.
